They return to the Boston Early Music Festival with a thrilling performance of Edda, one of the earliest Norse legends recounting the Rheingold curse: the bloody tale of revenge and seduction that also inspired Wagner’s Ring Cycle. In this magically theatrical piece rooted in the strange land of pre-Christian Norse stories, Sequentia, led by Benjamin Bagby, excavates the underlying emotional roots of these stories, and brings them to light in a stirring production that examines the best and worst sides of human nature in us all.
