If you've ever wondered why we keep nibbling away at the edges of environmentalism, but never solve any problems, this book explains it all: we're looking in the wrong places. Instead of thinking about recycling and green cars, we should be thinking about preserving species for extinction, extending our woodland, and using our muscles instead of machines to keep the air clearer. This is a fascinating, easy to read and FUNNY book!

I like Zerzan and Kaczynski as well, but question how effective "direct action" is when we have only a few tens of thousands AT BEST who have figured it out.

just bought 100 dollars worth of books, birthday/tax refund splurge

Backyard Livestock (because I am a nerd and want to raise animals for food one day

Green Metropolis (soon overgrown essay on how living in a big city is extremely eco friendly)

Dinner at Mr. Jefferson's (apparently this dinner had Thomas Jefferson, Hamilton, and James Madison and what was discussed there changed the course of world history...should be an interesting read)

Lion in the white house (Teddy Roosevelt biography...because he was badass)

Leviathan ( a history of whaling...because I am a secret nerd for 1800s whaling culture)

Two of my great-grandfathers were whalers in Portugal. We used to have two of the spears they used but we donated them to a whaling museum in the Azores.

Fairly awesome. You had to have BALLS OF STEEL to take on a whale.

Now it's too easy. They use 120mm guns.

Star wars - Wraith Squadron (X-Wing Squadron series #5) -Aaron Alston

I'm about to start
Feast For Crows -George R.R. Martin

And i've been dying to read the new wheel of time series book. I had thought that this new one was going to be the last in the series... that had been the idea at least... until Robert Jordan DIED and his slutty wife decided to let some other author take over and turn the 12th and last book, into THREE MORE FUCKING BOOKS!!
This SHOULD make me happy, because i love the series so much, but what it really means is that they're gonna drag out the ending over three books. WOO HOO.

Very rarely does a book make you feel good about receiving bad news. Linkola takes a different approach from most environmentalists: instead of bemoaning the disaster in a maudlin voice, he talks past the taboo about practical solutions to fix it, with hard data, insight and humor.

I was so confused, thought this was a reply to my post about Fafhrd because there's have a book called swords of ice and fire of them!

had me all excited about a tv series, then I realized you were responding about some other fantasy series above!
