Haha - no, but plenty of shotguns and a couple of handguns. I've actually had a boner for a Ruger Mini-14 lately though. That would be the semi-auto to fill the gap in my arsenal.

http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-s773/show

This is comprehensive legislation designed to address our nation's vulnerabilities to cyber crime, global cyber espionage, and cyber attacks. It would establish a new Cybersecurity Advisory Panel within the White House and stream-line the cybersecurity effort through all levels of government. The bill also calls on the Department of Commerce to establish and maintain a clearinghouse on information related to cybsecurity threat and vulnerability information to public and private infrastructure deemed "critical" by the President. The Secretary of Commerce would be given access to this information "without regard to any provision of law, regulation, rule, or policy restricting such access." The bill would also give the President new authority to "declare a cybersecurity emergency and order the limitation or shutdown of Internet traffic to and from any compromised Federal Government or United States critical infrastructure information system or network."

Basically the way I see it - the federal government does not have hard cybersecurity specs in place and this bill does that. It creates a cybersecurity commission. It has nothing to do with net neutrality, but government institutions will need to conform their IT specs to this bill.

This says essentially they will have a killswitch in place that shuts off the entire federal IT infrastructure and whatever other financial institutions are interconnected with the Department of Commerce (there's where you can let the conspiracy theories fly). It gives the president the power to hit this killswitch. It includes a cybersecurity awareness program for all personnel involved.

This is in place because lately many websites associated with the govt has had security problems. In the wake of Google losing sensitive data they figured they needed to have better codes in place. It's true that a lot of damage can be done from inside a government intranet.

Massachusetts has cybersecurity specs in place and I have to follow these codes all day, this is something the feds can go fuck themselves about.

Anything that threatens the openness of the net in this country will be vetoed. But the part in bold I do not like.

Thread title is wrong. Nothing to do with censorship.

I think the conspiracies come from this combined with a statement that someone close to Obama made (name escapes me at the moment) about limiting sites which conspire against the govt. ATS was one of them, as was Infowars, etc.

There's a thin line between delusional conspiracy theorists and ones that actually are on to something.
At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if anything like this happens now. I really don't like some of the executive orders Obama has signed.
But then again, I haven't liked any of the presidents since I was born.

I don't either, but one thing Obama has done which is overlooked, is the appointment of new chairpersons and people to all government organizations like the EPA and FCC (who now has a chairman that supports net neutrality) and other "liberal" regulatory govt orgs and programs that the Bush admin tried to destroy slowly from the inside. I'm all for smaller government but there are certain protections that need to be in place.

I was just asked if we have Youtube on campus. Yes, yes we do.
