Fresh off a very well-received West Coast tour with All Teeth and Touche Amore, this will be Defeater's first SXSW appearance as they will play alongside Goatwhore at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival showcase at Emo's Annex on March 19th. The band will be playing songs off of their debut Travels and new songs off of the recently released Lost Ground EP which was hailed " a haunting, perfectly- executed concept album" (SputnikMusic). Lost Ground, released in November of 2009, has received critical acclaim from the press landing itself on several Top Lists of '09 including PunkNews, Mammoth Press, and PastePunk. While their debut was called “a new artistic peak for hardcore” by Punknews and “the perfect definition of modern hardcore” by Lambgoat), Lost Ground has already surpassed the critical acclaim Defeater has received thus far. Lost Ground continues the story from Defeater's debut album, Travels, and follows a man's journey from enlisting in the military to post-war life and the subsequent events that follow.
