auction off your kids and go get a job. Unless you were raped there should be no reason why you should have three damn kids and using my and other taxpayers money to feed them slim jims and coca cola.

I really know of no good excuse to be on welfare unless some horrible accident happened to you that you can't work anymore.

sorry if I am a dick, just Market basket was full of EBT/WELFARE babies today. I'm talking a random black dude in pjs, baseball cap with sticker on it, riding one of those electric scooters around filled with hi-c and fruit loops because he was too lazy to walk (no cast on)

in other news I was also really pissed off that the food side of my store was fucked over for no good reason other that it was the 5th and therefore NH ebt refill day.

I guess I also hate children

I just hate that they accept these things at places like walgreens. I mean, if I HAVE to buy a brotha a box of cereal, I'd rather he pay $1.99 at Wal-mart instead of $6 at Walgreens. Am I wrong to think this way, or is that fair and logical?

Try raising a kid in this economy.

I'm not standing up for those leeches, but in all seriousness, most people that post on this board are no better and can't even afford food for themselves. FACT.

don't have kids, or put having them off

I hate when i get that excuse from pro-welfare people. If someone can't afford kids a hundred percent they should have never had them...or they could just have a ten trimester abortion, lol.

but coming from a father i know our two mindsets about chillen' are different. I don't have kids, you do, I'm sure when I get stuck with a parasite of my own one day I will change my mind...but being anti-welfare I'd probably work myself to death before taking government money

interesting fact is that poor people spend more on food on a per lb basis than others do simply due to the fact that most of them shop at walgreens/cvs because they have no car. I think that's a crime, they know they can get away with it because the poor can't afford the bus ride downtown every time. Only stoners and poor people buy cvs food: fact

Oh no. Don't get me wrong. I agree. People can't afford kids or raise them in a safe environment should NOT have them. Arrowhead should know..my town is full of white trash mommas pushing 3 kids.

Make no mistake, I'm not anti-welfare. I'm for reform. HUGE reform. Starting with the fact that establishments should be required to MEET or EXCEED some sort of established pricing guideline. Seeing that EBT fuckers can afford a box of Ellios for dinner at $5 a box when my ass can only afford the boxes Walmart sells for $2.50? That's retarded. With that type of markup, the govt. should NOT allow that place to accept those cards.

I think the reform should work in tiers, tier one would be to have a more strict policy of finding out these people are cheating the system, I personally know of a few people who claim they are divorced, mom collects ebt/welfare, dad still lives with family and is with wife and works full time construction job taking home 3 times as much as me.

They should also limit the places that accept this, I mean...7-11 near my accepts NH ebt? what the fuck? is there even edible food in there?

step 3 is to limit what can be purchased, I know fuck the food police, but when I used to cashier I would see 9 times out of 10 ebt users would buy mountains of junk food and nothing good, or conversely, would buy lobsters and filet mignon. I think it should be more like wic where they can only buy fruits, vegetables, meats, breads, and a few other necessities, no ho-hos or twinkies.

step four would be to put money from this program into job creation/ training/college credits/city run low-income daycare centers for moms who have proof of a job and are working while the child is at the center.

step five is to phase out the program all together once we can get the bulk of the poor independent of the gov again.

Arrowhead couldn't be more on point about people using EBT for overpriced goods. I think it's absurd. But i also am NOT anti-welfare. I DO think the guidelines need to be stricter for getting it though. I happen to know people who make the conscious decision to not work (play music, create art, etc..) and then they get welfare to supplement their income. It should NOT work this way, i choose to play music, but i also work two jobs to support my music. I know that it would cost money to have someone enforce stricter guidelines, but i think it could be paid for by the money saved BY those guidelines. Why not have mandate for buying food in bulk at cheap prices ala BJs? Maybe not specifically BJs, but someplace where they'll actually get enough food to feed their family, and not just buy shit loaded with high fructose corn syrup. Someplace that can make a deal with the government and be subsidized so that these people spend their welfare on shit they NEED and not at outrageous prices.

But all of this has been said before.

who the fuck sells a single box of ellios for 5 bucks? that doesn't even make sense.

living around a city area with kids in this state is devastating. 2 bedroom apartments are easily 1200+ a month on top of utilities and car insurance and other bills... it's insane. EBT cards take some of that burden away. just because a bunch of dunk slamming assholes abuse it doesn't mean people don't use it like it is intended.

i agree with most of the people in this thread. some people abuse the system and some use it properly. there should definitely be reform.
