http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2010/06/pet_rabbits_mut.html Authorities are looking for the man who allegedly killed and mutilated several pet rabbits Tuesday night at a North Adams business, officials said today. The animals were found "strewn about" Berkshire County Construction on Ashland Street about 9 p.m. Tuesday among signs of a break-in, according to a statement by the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The business is operated by the family of the pet owner, and the animals were kept at that location, said Brian Adams, a spokesman for the MSPCA. "This is one of the most unsettling acts of animal cruelty I have ever witnessed," MSPCA Law Enforcement Officer Roy Sutton said in the statement. "These defenseless rabbits were forced to endure unthinkable acts of cruelty." The incident is under investigation by MSPCA Law Enforcement and the North Adams police. One rabbit had its ears and tail torn off, the MSPCA said. It was then left hanging by a chain. A baby rabbit was also killed. The exact number of rabbits involved in the incident has not yet been released. The incident was caught on surveillance tape. The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 15 and 21 and between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 with a slight build. He was wearing black and gray camouflage pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and a red baseball cap with a white front panel. Anyone with information is urged to contact MSPCA Law Enforcement at 800-628-5808. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to a conviction.
