Gehenna was awesome. I miss the Espresso Bar.

I also miss that place. I never once got a coffee/espresso there at the little side bar... i know that it was a tiny place, and that they didn't have AMAZING sound, but i really wish i had gotten a chance to play there.... between the espresso bar/the space (artist alliance)and the palladium(worcester),and lupos/the met/living room (providence) and mama kin/the rat/bills bar (boston) i saw so many awesome bands. Then i stopped going to shows for almost 10 years, and now shows just don't feel the same way the used to... i'm pretty sure it's just that I don't feel the same way i used to, but that's not gonna stop me from trying to feel that way again... the new world in Lynn, and FUEL in lowell were cool too.

The Space used to be my fav. place to go.

to this day "the space" had the best single show i ever went to. It was on Christmas day, all day. i wanna say 98, but maybe it was 99. It was

Forced Fed Glass (openers)
Isis
Ire
Barrit
Harvest
Piecemeal
Today is the day
Dillinger Escape Plan
Cave-In
Converge

and i think there were at least one or two more, but i can't be sure. I'm SURE all those bands played...and i'm pretty sure that's the order they played in.. and yeah, i know i've posted about this at least three times before, but holy shit, the fucking show ruled.

I think I had seen every one of those bands at some point at that place. Saw Isis, FFG, Barrit and DEP there numerous times.

Jesus fuck, Blackbelt. I go to all these lengths smoking drugs to forget my misspent youth, and then somebody mentions terrible 90s hardcore bands and it all comes crashing in again.

99% of post-1996 black metal is minor key hardcore anyway.

It's all metalcore now, dawg.

you're absolutely right, they definitely did! So obviously you were there right? OM-fucking-G, i would have seen MOST of those bands HEADLINING a show.

IRE is one of my favorite hardcore bands ever.... actually, i'd say one of my favorite bands ever. I guess you'd call them doom now though... right? Wierd, cause back then they were "really really slow dark metal", no one knew what to call em. "I discern an overtone of tragedy in your voice" is one of my favorite eps, right up there with "mosquito control".

i was there. i grew up in worcester and i was 19 at the time. the show ruled so hard. i still call that show the first metal fest in worcester and no metal fest has come even close to comparing.

actually i think i was 20 or 21 when this happened cuz it was in the space that was on the 1st floor with the merch room to one side and the show to the other.

[Jul 14,2010 3:47pm - ouchdrummer ""]
exactly, merch on left, show on right. and it was KINDA the first floor, you had to go up a half staircase before you could go left or right. The only reason i wouldn't call it a fest is cause that place was NOT big. It ruled so hard. I miss places like that. I saw most of my fav bands in that place.... there were GOOD metal shows there regularly. like Eternal Suffering with about 15 people... with Ookla the Mok, As the Sun Sets, and seven day curse.
