I totally agree... i actually don't know this particular game, but they do it with all the big new game releases, and i hate it. I would be MORE inclined to buy a game after a trailer of actual game-play, than i would after seeing what amounts to a preview for a CGI-Anime. It PROBABLY helps them sell more copies though, i'd assume little kids don't know better, and if they like what the commercial looks like they probably harass their parents for it. Like:
"Call of Duty: Black Ops", i am obsessed with COD MW2, and REALLY wanna know if Black Ops is gonna run on the same engine (even though it's a different company) but the trailer is ALMOST all CGI Anime... there are only like quick flashes of what the game actually looks like.

Not worth the money in any sense. $60 for the game plus $60 for each of the two expainsions totaling $180 for the complete game(The base game alone is not worth even close to $60 for what it has going for it). Waiting 12 years for nothing more than a graphical upgrade to SC1. The new BNet sucks. Good job Blizzard, you ruined another genre I once loved.

how can you not like this game? It's everything a sequel should be: an upgrade from the original without losing the feel of the first. they expanded on the depth as well.
I'm about 6-7 maps in.. So far I'll give it 93 out of 100.

I really do like playing games on the PC, i did it as a kid all the time, but THE reason i switched to consoles was exactly what you're saying. One out of every two games i'd buy, i'd have to go back to the computer store and upgrade something. Bullshit. PS3 rules hard.

But yes, upgrading computers for the sole reason of playing games gets old. But, not being a fan of the FPS genre makes your argument invalid. FPS games push boundaries these days.
Everything on PC always looks better than consoles, but the playability and availability of console gaming has made them the champs. PC gaming is not as popular as it used to be, as reflected in your average gamestop.
1998-2002, EB had walls of PC games. Now they're lucky to have a shelf.
RTS needs to stay on PC.

FPSs are better on the PC? I don't think that's relevant anymore. Modern Warfare 2 looks as good as any FPS i've seen on PCs or consoles, and there are plenty of buttons on the controller to play the game without awkwardness
. and i'm not putting down pc games, it's just that pc games were always looked at as better because you had so many options for controls with all the buttons on the keyboard, and because of the processing power. PS3 has every bit of processing power that you would need to run any new game on it, and with the right tv, they'll look as good as pc too.
I just think your argument got outdated when they made consoles have all the processing components of pcs.

precisely. which happened the moment they started putting in harddrives, RAM, computeresque video cards, etc. They're computers built for gaming. But keep in mind each generation has a gap of around 3-5 years. Newer computer video cards now are 10x better than that of PS3 and 360. But the next gen systems will match it.
I've played many FPS games on consoles but am partial to having a mouse because I think it's much better for aiming and controlling. Obviosuly everyone has an opinion; FPS games grew up on the PC and I still think PC has advantage in the genre.
Also RTS games on Consoles are just silly.

Blizzard can suck it. My girlfriend and I have been waiting for this release for a while. Since we have to buy two copies just to play together now, that's like almost $400 bucks after taxes.
Also, FPS on PCs give me carpal tunnel (I use a Wacom exclusively). I'd rather sit back on a couch with a root beer and some cookies. Can't do that on a PC.

I'm not knocking console gaming at all. I've always loved both. Obviously I'm somewhat alone in the opinion that FPS games are better on (new)PCs and RTS don't belong on consoles.
I've enjoyed all FPSs I've played on consoles, I just think having a mouse and keyboard are better suited for those types of games.

It pretty much took until PS3 came out that I always considered the PC superior, but it's just not like that any more. It'll still be the best for RTS's and MMRPGs, at least until consoles get a mouse n' keyboard thing going. At that point there'll really be no difference. The one huge advantage that PC gaming has is game moddability.
Strangely, I don't have much interest in SC2. I've played every other game they've put out, but I think I'm burnt on the RTS genre.

I agree that PC is the best for a lot. I've been the fanboi for a long time. Unlike what everyone here says, I've had the same system I built years ago, and even the latest games I picked up (bioshock 2, Dragons Age, Borderlands, etc...) run fine on it. Every month, PC gamer lists a $500 system that can run every game out at the time, albeit at lower settings.
The point someone already made is far too true, however. No matter how much better FPS are with a 4000dpi mouse and short-throw keyboard, no matter how much easier RTS is with a full keyboard, and no matter how much smoother and BETTER the graphics look on every game I play, the industry lost faith in me. Less and less games are coming out for PC. The games that do come out are more and more often half-assed shitty ports, and a lot of the good titles are hitting the consoles first.
I gave up and bought a PS3. I love it. I will never EVER play FPS on that. I bought Resistance, and learned that incredibly fast. One of the first things I did when I got my PS3 was download demos of all the different games I had on PC, like Assasins Creed, Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, and NOTHING looked as good. There's some stuff that is not even remotely the same, graphically. Whole backgrounds missing, lighting effects gone, etc...
I downloaded the Batman demo. What was the most playable and awesome set of PC controls I ever used was the most awkward fucking controller setup ever. The irony is, I can use a PS controller I have on my PC, and STILL preferred mouse and keyboard for that.
I will say that some games are turning out to suit the controller better, Assasin's Creed for one.
TLDR: Fuck PCs, I gave up and bought a PS3

so this game is awesome. it's really similar to starcraft 1, but many units are more versatile and there's infinitely more strategies. i'm ranked #2 on the bronze league in battle net. i got bumped down from the silver league because i kept getting raped. i've played maybe 30 matches since it came out. the single player mode crashes my computer, but it won't when i replace the mobo.

yeah 200 is the limit because the map resources are still pretty much the same. hot keys are the only way to play, i use super fast mouse scroll and hot keys. i just did a reaper rush to a protoss player and took out his resources, and he still got me with void rays.

also, zerg are hard to play. each race is much different this time around. i played a game that lasted an hour the other day, because i couldn't bust through terran defense. i owned the whole map and starved him of resources and still couldn't manage to get through turrets, tanks and bunkers with everything i could throw at him. i just had to wait out the siege.

yes. I've only played Zerg once so far (single player does have Zerg missions yet) so I'm still a scII Zerg nub. I did a ling rush and it didn't seem like SC1. I used to make massive hydralisk armies in SC1. I'm much better at Terran at the moment du to single player.
As always, Protoss is awesome. Expensive, but awesome. Music is incredible too.

the protoss and zerg campaigns will be seperate expansions which is lame, but with the amount of depth the put into the single player this time i guess that makes up for it.

LOL at the PC vs. console war thread. The truth is Steam and digital distros saved PC gaming. PC is finally getting a lot of attention from the whole industry once again, and the hardware is sooo cheap now. My PS3 rules too. Just as it always was, there's always good games for both platforms. I'm playing through Chrono Cross now and that game couldn't have happened without Playstation. Blizzard games would have never worked on console, especially in the early battle.net days.

Just finished campaign for Heart of the Swarm. I haven't finished an RTS campaign in years, maybe if ever. Been playing online frequently last couple months with some friends. Also playing Nocturne and Suikoden V for PS2 emulated.
HOTS is cool, much more fair than Brood War was. I think the original SC is better or at least more fair than BW.
