Video footage from a closed circuit TV showed that a woman had entered the lift and pressed the button to go down. However, the wheelchair-bound man missed the lift by seconds. Furious, the man reversed his wheelchair and slammed hard into the lift doors. On impact, the lower part of the door actually gave way but it did not open. The man, known only as Mr Lee, reversed his wheelchair and slammed it into the lift doors again. This time, the lower part of the lift's doors gave way and he fell through the gap. He is believed to have fallen about 19 feet (six metres), the Daily Mail reported The incident took place in August and was captured on a security camera in a shopping centre in Daejon, South Korea. The police believed that the man's anger was caused by the woman not holding the lift for him, according to the Daily Mail. Meanwhile, the shopping centre has promised to strengthen its lift doors to prevent another such accident. |
