I think the earlier material struck a good balance of big heavy riffs, grind, and the more "prog" (god I fucking hate that word) elements. Beyond that, the scale tipped too far towards the latter. Interesting that the more complex the music got, the more it bored me to death. Sorta like what Cephalic Carnage is doing now..... oops. |

Back'd, although thanks to Jimbo, I've grown to somewhat appreciate the Faceless. It just seems that more modernized deathmetal / whatever bands put twiddles and tweedles over real substance and real emotion in music. I listen to music for the emotions it conveys, not the skill of the person playing the instrument. Ive said it 200 times before, but there are huge differences between COMPOSERS and MUSICIANS. It's very hard to find someone who is both. |

I will say, however that when I saw BTBAM with The Red Chord and Premonitions of War... Fucking CRUSHING show. Shit was kinda fresh then. Now it's old and stale and I make more money than them and look more handsome and drive a nicer car and they drink Clan MacGregor while I'm sippin Johnny Blue. |
