After releasing his solo debut in 2009, Wino went acoustic in early 2011 with Adrift, a gut-wrenchingly personal album written by a man who has survived a lifetime ...of gut-wrenching scenarios and lived to tell the tales. Wino’s latest project sees him plugged back in—both to his amplifier and the full-band format. Enter PREMONITION 13, a musical entity that finds its genesis in jam sessions dating back two decades, when Wino first met fellow guitarist Jim “Sparky” Karow. It's extremely hard to top a unit like them, one that's been together for years, toured extensively etc. Premonition 13 was pretty good but definitely a challenge to follow the Gates. |

I've never seen them before, but will definitely check them out again. I picked up their double LP. The Gates of Slumber singer/guitarist is the fucking man. Metal as fuck and really talented. But it was hard for me to get into the band 100% because their drummer, despite looking like a wise old wizard, was so bland. |
