| _____________________________________ [Feb 8,2003 5:20am - the_reverend ""] ok, I was testing out a Nikon D100 and Sigma 17-35mm f 2.8 lense I'm not very good with it yet so I fucked up and a lot of the pictures are unfocused or washed out. I'll have to work with this isht. The rest are taken with my sony. I will try to re-type my review now: the Berzerker: is that carcass I smell? Their sound is just plan different and won them a bunch of fans tonight. I heard a few people make the comment "wtf is this??", but after 3-4 songs, young and old alike was pounding their fists in the air along with the disjointed beats. Strapping Yound Lad: Mr. Heavy Devy is an amazing talent. Granted his comments between songs were stupid, but it ripped. From what I heard, the new CD is going to shread it up. Dark Tranquillity: What can you say about this band that hasn't been said already? Pure fucking Swedish Melodic Metal. Their set was filled with old tracks as well as all my favs off the new cd; Damage done, monochromatic stain, and ending with final resistance. Awesome! During F.R. I look beside me and the singer had gotten off stage and in the photopit just watching his band play. Napalm Death: Classic! If you were standing on the floor, they sounded like a shitty wall of sludge (much like nile did). now, a few levels up, the sound came together! So tight! They played a set that spanned their entire catalog, from a scum medely to a Dead Kennedy's cover to tracks off the new CD. And this was my first time seeing them! Does that signer ever stop moving? Nile: Saddly, a bunch of people left during nile, leaving the place with probably 1/2 the people that were there. They the longest set I've ever seen them play (1:20?). Again, their sound was a little much down front and you couldn't really tell the texture of their tracks. But further back, the sound was cd-quality NILE!!!! Though, there weren't really any surprises in the songs they played.. sort of standard Nile songs. But fuck! they played those songs like a jackhammer! They got on stage with a intro and just started to pummel the audience with their own egyptian spawned sonic assualt. what did any one else think? |

I thought SYL was good but they played way too much new stuff that I wasn't familiar with. More off "City" damn it. Hopefully they will play alot off "City" when they come back with Messhuagah. I've always hated DT. Napalm Death was pretty good but sounded like shit, same as Nile. I left six songs into Nile. |

| ______________________________________ [Feb 8,2003 1:15pm - exhumed4death ""] the show was fucking great. i already loved berzerker now i love them so much more.19 beats per second?wow. i thought syl was ok before but they r soo much better live. great performance.dk was awesome, ending with final resistance was the perfect choice. napalm death...not a huge fan, they werent bad tho. nile, amazing as usual but i was gettign tired before they started and the long set just lost me, i fell asleep with my eyes open tho, that was pretty metal.haha.great show, worth the drive, snow is not an excuse. |

DT are not really my thing either but I actually like it. Napalm Death, that was the first time I ever saw them, I owe them everything but I'm a purist, for me everything after Utopia Banished suck..so that's why I always refuse to go see them. I was actually very happy/surprised of their set. They play a bunch of songs from the Scum and F.E.T.O. albums (Scum, The Kill, and my favorite Siege Of Power even if they changed it a bit). Great attitude and all, and they had the guts to talk about the war situation (how it sucks bad) and about racism/fascism/nazis...I will always appreciate those kinds of statements more than the classic "What's up Worcester?"...Nile I think are boring live but I'm looking forward to see them at Lupos (smaller venue the better). I was sick as shit. Napalm Death and flyering for the Pungent Stench show were the only 2 reasons why I went at that show. |

SYL was good too especially since they closed with "All Hail The New Flesh". Dark Tranquility was awesome, they played all really great songs. Napalm Death was good, but the singer kept walking around in circles, i didnt really know what that was all about. Even though i was right up front and the sound was horrible, Nile still did really good, When they played "BSV" everyone went nuts. Great show. |

They have some terrible, terrible albums in my opinion like "Fear Emptiness Despair", "Diatribes", etc. The last two albums are obvious attempts at recapturing their true grindcore days. Too little, too late. They don't even have ONE original member anymore, but even that has been going on for years. |
