| ________________________________________ [Jun 22,2004 1:44am - Josh_hates_you ""] i have played them. never owned them. they are fast as fuck. the world record was set using them. most metal players swear by them. you can find them used wicked cheap for some reason. i use a tama iron cobra and i have the iron cobra junior for a backup pedal and i like them they are fast and powerful. i love the DW's they are just so god damn smooth. the 5000 is cool but the new 9000 is the shit. i hate the pearl eliminator. if you can find someplace that is a sonor distibutor(cause GC is not) try out the sonor giant step pedals. they have gotten awesome reviews and won best new drum hardware award from like 3 magazines. they are pretty pricey though. with 2 iron cobras id get a sick new snare first. maybe some new hi hats. i hate mine. |

He uses two single kicks, with triggers but he doesn't need the triggers, we jammed for over a year before he got the triggers. The main thing is that at first, you almost need to re-train your feet cause they're a lot different but in the long run you can fly on them way faster than Iron Cobras or DWs. I'm a drummer too, raised on the DW 5000, I could hardly play his Axis pedals at first but once I started to get the feel of them they are nicer pedals. A lot less mechanics and gears involved, much smoother, much less maintenance. |

| _______________________________ [Jun 22,2004 11:16am - Wood ""] I use the sonor giant step middle pedal and it is the shit!!! it puts the kik in th middle of the kit so you can do things like havin 2 rides and shit. I was chillin with the drummer of summon over this past weekend in N.C. he LOVES his axis pedals. he does not use the beatersa that came with them though. he uses bigger heavier beaters. His axis pedals also have built in triggers as well... He is sick and his pedals are sick. But axis are built for speed. if you want to hunker down into a big chug breakdown or something, sometimes they are so smooth you can't really fell that good "stomp/slam" to help you get into the music. |

| _________________________________________________ [Jun 30,2004 4:53am - NZ black metal drummer ""] I use a basic as pearl tw100 kick pedal and am upgrading to an axis longboard, cause I want to heel/toe and the extra foot board length is Crucial for this, if you doubt me, ask any chick, and she will tell you the 2 inches makes a big difference but back to drumming: I tried the iron cobra, and quite liked it, but again no room to heel toe, I also tried the sonor giant step pedal with the heel toe thing, it was a fine pedal, but one thing bugged me about it, there is a mechanism on the footboard that stops the beater just after it would hit the bass drum, this annoyed my feet because it didn't feel right not being able to them all the way down, that said, I wouldn't mind trying on of the middle kick pedals. but in the end the Axis longboard won, if you want speed, NOTHING beats heel toe, and the only 2 pedals that enable you to do that with ease are the axis and the sonor, and as I said the sonor had a few niggle that meant I didn't warm to that pedal the way I did to the Axis, and plus the Axis is about $200 new zealand dollars cheaper so I am happy! |

| ________________________________________________ [Jul 3,2004 5:30am - NZ black metal drummer ""] Bought my Axis's today, and for those who say they are shit, you do not know anything, they were by FAR the best pedal I ever played, (beating the Iron cobra and a few others) as for sound, if you move your foot up the foot board, you can do fast as fuck bass rolls, but very quiet, move you foot right down the other end and they are nice and loud, the way metal was meant to be played, as for build quality, they seemes mint, they even have their allen key set for all the adjustables. all in all, the best 899 NZD I ever spent!!!! |

Tons of adjustments in deck height, drive, chain tension and configuration. Has memory locks, and soft or hard face interchangable mallets. You can score them on Ebay for $200-$250 generally. |
