I did some work in a radiogenic isotope lab that mainly dates zircons - they have a Zircon demo that they play to impress visiting scientists. Eating zircons is a really bad idea as zircon is highly enriched in uranium and is very radioactive. There are zircon mines in Africa where people sleep next to piles of giant zircons that they separate from gravel deposits and it's basically equivalent to sleeping in an x-ray machine.
