Larry, Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office, has been cat-napping on the job, reports the Daily Mail. Recruited from an animal shelter specifically for his mousing skills, Larry assumed office in Feb. 2011 and was charged with ridding 10 Downing Street of the pests. "Larry spends his days greeting guests to the house, inspecting security defences and testing antique furniture for napping quality. His day to day responsibilities also include contemplating a solution to the mouse occupancy of the house," says the website of the PM's official residence. But his record at mouse catching has been abysmal. He made his first confirmed kill just last month, according to the Daily Mail report. Olly Grender, from the communications office of 10 Downing, tweeted on Aug. 28: "Just arrived at work Larry the cat sitting proudly outside No10 front door with a dead mouse next to him," and later posted a photo of "the victim." Cameron is reportedly fed up with the failing feline and has recruited instead Freya, the tabby belonging to Chancellor George Osborne. Where is the justice in all of this!?!?! |
