I'd take the Ibanez over the LTD. But it's really a matter of what features you're looking for.

Personally I think the ZR trems from Ibby are the best thing since sliced bread. It's nice to be able to do doublestop bends on a floating trem!

I have two 400s and like them just fine. Regarding the 1000s, it depends on the price. They seem a little overpriced IMO.

Amazing. There's a spring pulling in each direction underneath. It snaps the trem back to the zero position. It also helps to balance it out when doing double bends, etc...

I'm a southpaw, so I've got ZERO experience with lefty OFR's, I've only had varying qualities of Licensed Floyd Roses. Until now, the Original Edge by Ibanez was the best floating trem I'd played, and that includes the Floyd Rose Special trems (like I think that LTD comes with). Since I got my ZR2 (I know, not the same as the ZE2 you're looking at) it has easily become my favorite trem. Butter smooth ball bearing action like a kahler, but with the range and performance of a floyd. You can still do flutter effects and the sort with the ZR2 trem.

Also keep in mind (although this sort of thing doesn't mean anything to me and shouldn't to you) that the Prestige models are not currently being made in Japan. They've started production in Indonesia, I believe. I think it's all due to the power plant/tsunami damage in Japan. Some say the quality is worse. Some say it's the same. Ibanez swears they're built to the same standards, by a team trained and overseen by the original Japan team.

I do have a lower end Indonesian model (the S420BBS) and at $500 it's one of the best quality axes in my collection. Considering I'm up to almost 20 guitars, that says a lot.

i play the same guitar its just the m-1000 model (reverse headstock, which i dont think they make anymore). plays awesome and the sustain is out of this world.... Since though, I believe they went to a set-thru neck construction so i dont know for sure but it may not have that real neck-thru sustain. mines a 2007 which was the last year they did true neck throughs i thought i read somewhere.... I would read up on it and see about the neck construction, and maybe you could score an older m series with the neck through (its a buyers market so i dont know how many will be around)..... otherwise i love these axes!
