For one, Absinthe is no longer 'illegal' (it never was in fact, but just recently some shit blahblahblah to many words to explain, just Google if you want all the details, but simply: yes real absinthe is readily available all over the USA right now including domestic distilleries). The 'best' example of now-adays Absinthe I would say to start with though, would be anything from Jade: http://www.bestabsinthe.com/history.htm Or, if you want something that you can easily find at almost any the liquor store right now than Lucid is the most 'authentic' that is super easy to find. Though recently there has been many more options on the local shelves, at least around Boston. I tried at least 4-7. They did the thing with the sugar cube and fire over the bent spoon. On the rocks I think. Was several years ago. From what I understand if you homebrew it you can do so in such a way to minimize the alcohol content and maximize the thujone content so you can actually trip. Most commercially brewed stuff has too high alcohol to thujone ratio so you just wind up getting drunk before you trip. I could be wrong. I have not drank enough of it/done enough reading ont he subject. |

Ive definitely had PLENTY of times where I have been a lot more than drunk from absinthe. Shoes and I used to have a weekly absinthe ritual, of sorts. It doesnt make you trip, it's more of a mild but definitely present stimulant like a really low dose of ecstasy. Marilyn Mansons absinthe is useless though. |

I have no idea what kind it was, it was from Prague and we drank it the way Czech kids had told him to drink it: take a shot in your mouth, swish it all around, swallow it, and then take the deepest breath you can. The cold-air-in-mouth feeling was so intense I thought my heart had stopped.
