Martyrdoom Fest Review for rttp[views:6056][posts:28]___________________________________ [Jul 1,2013 10:15am - PoopButt ""] I had high hopes going to this year's Martyrdoom Festival. It had a number of great bands and seemed to be a "fest of the year" candidate. However, after the first few bands, this fest turned into one, big, steaming pile of shit. For the amount of money that Wop charged per ticket you would at least think there would be some sort of amenities for your average fan. There was no food, ventilation, or toilet. The music was great, the venue was terrible. Not to mention the lack of water that didn't cost money. This shitbag fest had excellent potential but was five quarters short of a dollar. It was unorganized and had no schedule posted anywhere. Bands played at the same time and I couldn't even take a shit if I wanted to. Someone tell that Wop to get his act together. |

I ended up leaving the show a little after one because I felt like shit and wasn't even enjoying the show anymore. Every beer I bought was warm, one toilet for the entire crowd, no air conditioning, no schedule, nobody who bought tickets name being on the will call list, doors opening late, missing bands I wanted to see cause there was no schedule, and two bands playing at the same time then no bands playing. How could last year run so great and this year ran like they put it together that day? |

Saturday..Friday it wasn't that bad. The bar gave me cups of ice water whenever I asked but maybe cause I was in a band..it was a cluster fuck with the bands, I agree..a schedule needed to be printed and handed out at the door/posters on the walls, I agree. 6.5/10 |

I was told by black security toilet guy that there was no reentry if you left the premesis.. I would've grabbed food down the street if otherwise. I ate there before the show, it was good. They charged me 2 dollars for ice water. 4/10, could have been 8/10. New England was well represented, but I really with Desolate and Deathgod didn't play at the same time. |

He didn't even look for my wrist band. It was a bummer because the bands were good. If it was at the same venue as last year it would have at least been 7/10. |

| _________________________________ [Jul 1,2013 10:15pm - Reaper ""] I went for the first one last year it was amazing. This years would have been a lot better if the public assembly didn't shut down. That caused a lot of the cancellations of the bigger headliners (Drowning the Light, Ares Kingdom, Adversarial, etc) but even then a lot of great bands. Hotels are expensive and i just recently met a couple people in NYC, but otherwise don't know those folks well enough to stay somewhere, so in the end it was obvious only to go saturday again, the only date where every band i wanted to see. Our bus broke down causing a 3 hour delay into the city, and also meant we missed every band until whenever Crucifier and then Demonic Christ went on, therefore missed about half the bands. My only real complaint was the heat. It was too hot to stay in for most bands i ended up seeing most sets only in half and then going outside. Because water was also only $2 bottles and no free cups it was a bit difficult to watch any bands whole sets. The only cash i had went to bands that night and merch. The club had a $25 minimum charge for cards, so i just had to do without. The festival was great bandwise (though it would have been perfect as a two day all day fest rather than the pre-show and day 3 being just a 4 band show), and the performances were amazing. Regarding the bathroom situation there were 3 single person toilets, for a while two were blocked off. I sat in a line during demonic christ then the guy just looked at me and told me to stop standing there and go away. I went back later when i noticed all three were open but the security guy watching them basically would knock on the doors and tell people to get out after a minute or two. That, the ventilation, and water issue makes me hope Vinny moves it to another place, as chances are i won't go if its at the paper box again unless the lineup is too good to pass up. |
