_____________________________________ [Jul 31,2013 8:50am - death-metal ""] In a burst of stupidity, I switched to Jaz drives in the 1990s instead of emerging CD-R technology, which promptly plummeted in price from $10/CD to $1/CD, making the Jaz drive look like a totally retarded investment. I learned a lot from that, although my ass still hurts. |

I remember when Iomega's Jaz drives came out and blew my mind because it was nearly a GB whereas the Zip Drives were 100MB. 16 years later, USB laughs at us. |

_____________________________________ [Jul 31,2013 9:23pm - death-metal ""] They used to have assloads of them at Goodwill. No guarantees, so buy seven and one might work. The Jaz drive was pretty impressive, when it worked, which was most of the time. But the crashes were catastrophic. USB will piss on our graves. At some time in the future, when 6pb fits on a thumb drive and Windows 31 (for workgroups) has taken over our smarthomes... |
______________________________________ [Jul 31,2013 9:41pm - the_reverend ""] IDK, the spec for SDXC goes out to 2TB, but the largest SDXC is 1/8 that size. There is no need for them until they can get them to the 6Gbps speed to use them as L3 caching. I have a feeling with TRIM (etc) support in the mobile world, I got a flash yesterday about RAID with SDXC (micro sd format) will be in the future. With everything moving to mobile, getting a RAID0/5 on a couple 2TB microSD SDXC cards @2TB would be pretty killer. I only need 9.1TB right now to store all my data. Granted, I'm growing that data at 256GB a month or so... |
