Ths was an awesome movie, and Smaug is the greatest thing I have ever seen in a film. The only downside I've found to these movies is they lack the emotional weight of impending doom the LOTR trilogy has. |

But it wasn't like it's The Secret Life of Walter Mitty where it's an 8 page (?) short story that needs to be blown up to be adapted. The Hobbit is a 300+ page book that already has a very deep and detailed story arc. They invented a problem in adjusting the length, and used it to sneak in a female lead and a goofy love story to make it digestible to the 0.0001% of the population that wasn't going to see the move. |
