Talked to Margaret for a bit, she cut her set short because one of her keyboards broke the other night and because the microphone kept being bullshitty. But I loved it while it lasted. Cut Hands was both fun and disappointing. I didn't really listen to him much before the show, but I had higher hopes considering William Bennett's history with Whitehouse. It was fun though. His set had the opposite problem of Pharmakon's though, just a touch too long. Godflesh was great. The set started off shitty for me because I was surrounded by drunks who kept yelling at each other, but they filtered out after three or four songs. Pretty fucking great shit. Infinitely happy I went to this instead of Carcass the other day, especially considering how much of a joke i'm sure the Carcass audience was. Tonight's crowd was solid. |

Musically, what she was doing was really basic, but she had the creativity and passion to make it something special. Cut Hands went on way too long. I dug it for about 10 minutes and then it started to sound the same to me. It was like hard trance with African rhythms. Still not sure what to think of it other than there could have been an act that better fit the bill. Godflesh was crushing. Sounded amazing. The mix was great and they absolutely nailed everything. |
