Fans of experimental and boundary-pushing black metal will need no introduction to The Meads of Asphodel. They have been spreading their unique brand of bizarre yet heavy music for over 15 years. With contributions from members of other ground breaking bands such as Hawkwind and Sigh and releases on the legendary Candlelight Records, the Meads are at the forefront of the reinvention (in a good way...) of black metal. Tjolgjtar has also been creating their own blend of genre-bending black metal since 1998. With a prolific amount of releases (11 (!) full lengths and numerous splits and EPs), they have a very anachronistic and personal take on what it means to create cult music. If black metal existed in the 1960s, this is what it would have sounded like.
