I saw Mogwai play Like Herod in a bar in NYC around 1998. My favorite experience ever at a show. Also, Marilyn Mason in the late 90's at fitchberg was the best theatre at a show I have ever see.

1. I saw Green Jelly last summer at a bar in St. Petersburg, Florida, and I felt like I was in a Kindergarten Cop scene with heavy metal and strange costumes.
2. Heaven & Hell Tour at the Tsongas Arena, 3. Down in Worcester back in 2007, 3. Napalm Death last night in Tampa, 4. TestAmenT at some weird dive in western mass like 9 years ago, 5. Paganfest in 2009 or whatever year it was that Moonsorrow played with Ensiferum and Eluveitie.

I second this. Saw them in Michigan in '97 and it was an incredible show. Antichrist Superstar. Religious protesters all over the parking lot with their "repent, repent, hellfire is near" shit all over the place. We just got shitfaced and had one hell of a time.

A close second would be Opeth in NYC with the NY ballet and NY orchestra. They played tons of shit from Orchid, Morningrise, and Still Life.
Was amazing....it was the second half of a 2 show US tour. Chicago and NYC.
