Whos playing w/nile and hypocrisy on 2/4 @ palladium?[views:13171][posts:84]the Palladium (Worcester, Ma) - [decapitated][hypocrisy][nile][raging_speedhorn][randomshots][soilent_green][with_passion] _________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 4:40pm - pam nli ""] This_Is_Heresy said:I'm actually wicked happy that somebody on here has some reasoning behind what they say. You have some coherent thoughts on the matter too. I got what I asked for! I guess I'm just tired of so many people on here trashing one band for no other reason than because a lot of people like them. Glad its not the case here. Personally, I think there is more to Nile than just speed, but that just me. Hell, I could make a bunch of posts with legit reasoning about band who I feel are over reated and people on here would just be lining up to shoot me in the face. So...ya know... its cool. I'm sure, having reasons for your opinions is like...so out of style. There's usually a method to my madness...usually. |

To be honest, I think the reason for the bogus sound in places was the way they were rocking the speakers, usually there on the stage, not floating above . I don't know might not be anything. And the lead singer for Hypocrisy looks EXACTLY like Christopher Walker. I needed more cowbell to say the least. -Tony from Cunt-agingi knew it was you before i read the last line. fuckin, our lingo is unmistakeable. but seriously, it should have been just decapitated and nile each playing for 2.5 hours. that would be the best concert ever. |
_________________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 8:48pm - wakeoftears nli ""] this is bullshit. i had no idea decapitated was on the bill. i havent been coming on here at all lately, and I guess i just payed the price. Liddel vs Couture 3 was not worth missing decapitated whatsoever. |

They definately shouldn't have cut Hypocrisy short. I'm 110% on board for that because Hypocrisy was putting on an amazing set. I was pissed too. But Nile boring? Nile sucking even?? I just dont get it. Nile are cool on CD but it just doesn't translate live. Unless you could see them somewhere with perfect acoustics, it just turns into one big mess of noise. |
__________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 8:53pm - contagion ""] i dont know where people are getting all this "nile had shit sound" crap. i heard every note and every beat of the drums. vocals were good volume. sounded just like the cd to me. |

___________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 8:57pm - BornSoVile ""] I thought it was one of the best Nile sets I've seen from them. Though I'd like to hear mostly shit off of Amongst and Black Seeds...the newer material is definately more straight to the point. I think they're an insanely fast band but I always forget that my favorite parts in their songs are at their doomy dirges. I thought the sound was actually some of the best I've heard there in forever. I like how they're hanging the speakers. I didn't go on the floor but it sounded sweet from my booth right next to the merch section, stage right. |
___________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 8:58pm - BornSoVile ""] but yes, I think they would sound amazing at a venue like the chance. |

___________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 9:37pm - anonymous ""] Hypocrisy ruled. I drove 2 hours to see them and they played 25 minutes. Nile played for 75 minutes, they're sound is cool but gets boring after about 20 minutes. Hypocrisy, and we the fans got screwed, so FUCK NILE!!! |

__________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 10:03pm - pam nli ""] I thought everything sounded like shit, I've been to bars with better sound. The place is echoey as hell, so they hang the fucking speakers closer to the echoey ceiling...I'm no sound tech but that seems pretty fucking stupid. I also think they need to hire competent sound people. When you've got your feet up on the soundboard and the bands sound like seven layers of shit, you need to be fired. |
__________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 10:03pm - pam nli ""] also...Nile had the best sound of the night...but the palladium's best sound is most venue's worst sound. |
____________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 10:09pm - BornSoVile ""] i don't doubt the quality of whatever they're using...i have no idea how it works there, i've always thought that the sound guy was on stage with the band and lights were handled in the center(maybe the stage guys is just there for monitors)...but yeah, the acoustics have always sucked, you can't change that. |
_____________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 10:56pm - RustedAngel ""] Granted the acoustics suck at the palladium, especially if it's not to full in there the sound was really terrible for this show. Nile wasn't AS BAD as the rest but still pretty bad. I've seen bands sound good downstairs before, but it's rare. AT LEAST MAKE THE GUITARS LOUD so everyone can hear them, the house soundguy's could see this. With Passion: Not bad stuff, wasn't into it. Decapitated: Sounded 1 gazillion times better at The Chance theater, they got fucked here. They weren't even listed on the ticket/website/flyer or anything and clearly more people care about them than the next gay band that went on. I talked to Vogg before the show and asked about why they got rid of the 2nd guitar player he said "It wasn't decapitated, we sounded completely different with him" Then he offered to have a beer but I don't drink, haha. Raging Speedhorn: F u c k i n g - T e r r i b l e ! They had 2 vocalist and the only reason I could see why was to make their shit even more terrible than it already was. I don't know who's retarded idea it was to put them on this tour but god damn. Solient Green: I've known about them for a while and never bothered going to see them. I don't think they are anything special musically and were kind of boring to watch. Hypocrisy: Sound got a little better, but not by much at all. Still sounded like total mush during anything over 100bpm's. Nile: Best sound of the night but still bad. The volume definitely was drastically reduced for them so I think that's the only reason why you could hear things better. It seemed like you couldn't hear the guitars at the beginning. Played for over an hour I think. I forgot how many times I've seen them now but I think it must be at least 8-10 times and I think this lineup is one of their strongest yet. Although Cheif had some pretty awesome facial expressions. Great show; glad I didn't have to pay. |
_________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 11:05pm - Shanok ""] Totally got fucked, paid $23 to see such a short set from Hypocrisy! They sounded awesome, just as shit was getting started,it was over. Wicked dissapointed, talked to the drummer after the show,he said hypocrisy is doing a headlining tour in September, worth the wait,I guess. |
__________________________________________ [Feb 5,2006 11:08pm - Bogus Rendition ""] So, at the Pheonix version of this show a couple weeks ago, the sound for decapitated was very similar to what is described for the Wostah' show. Also, raging speedhorn should be a 3 piece, if anything. The sound for the 3 headliners was realatively very good. The ceiling in this place is much lower then the palladium (this place seems to have been built scrictly for concerts as opposed to the theatre of victorian times). For the record, nile did place lashed on the slave stick in phoenix. overall a good show. Wish I coulda worked for that tour and seen it every night for the month and a half. |

_____________________________________ [Feb 6,2006 8:57am - the_reverend ""] um... if you guys missed it, there were 2 sets of speakers. one set was hanging and one set pointing up at the balcony seating. this set up was used first at the palladium for the slipknot show I believe. I heard it was awesome for them. maybe the sound guy for the bands didn't know that he was suppose to turn to lower set on (cause it sounded like they weren't on), but it's not dumb to have a set of hanging speakers if you have another set on the stage aimed at the crowd. |
____________________________________ [Feb 6,2006 1:30pm - BSV@school ""] yea, there was definately another set of speakers on the stage. |
___________________________________ [Feb 6,2006 2:42pm - anonymous ""] Those are nice hypotheses about the night at the Palladium and Nile "fucking" Hypocrisy, but here's what really happened, for those who give a shit. Someone from Nile's crew told Hypocrisy's guitar tech (who also plays in decapitated) that Hypocrisy needs to cut one song, since they were indeed running late, due to their extensive setup(drum triggers, synth, click, etc.). So if they cut one song, they would still be a little late, but who cares about a minute or 2? I guess do to the noise and/or language barrier, the gentleman from decapitated miscontstrued the instructions. He then ran onstage and told Peter that they had to stop playing at that exact moment, which ended up fucking them. It wasn't anybody's fault. Just a communication error. You can wash the sand out of your vaginas now. |
__________________________________ [Feb 6,2006 3:35pm - contagion ""] i was wondering why the guys from decapitatd were doing all the work for hypocrisy. and rev - if im not mistaken, the hanging speakers are usually on the stage, facing right at the floor. i could be wrong but thats what i remember them being like last time i was there. whatever, the shows over. |
_____________________________________ [Feb 6,2006 3:41pm - the_reverend ""] if you remember, the speakers at the palladium change every few months. they (up to this point) rent the speakers they use, but when I was talking to someone there, they used the term "bought" which up to that point, the speakers at the palladium havent been. http://www.returntothepit.com/location.php...The+Palladium+%28Worcester%2C+MA%29 you can look there at a few different shows and see that they have had a million different configiration of the speaker set up. |

This is probably correct. In most large venues there is one sound person at the side of the stage who does the monitor mixes and at least one other person facing the stage doing the sound that everyone else hears. As for the general sound of the palladium, most people who talk about how shitty the palladium's sound is are the people who are listening from the pit area. If you were to listen from between the bar and where the sound guy is, it is noticably better sounding. Granted, in the case of the Palladium, even then it is still pretty bad, but its better than what you hear in the pit in front of the stage. |
_________________________________ [Feb 6,2006 7:39pm - pam nli ""] I have been in the photo pit, on the floor, by the sound board, and at the bar, and it all sounds like shit to me. The best sound comes from the monitors which you can only hear in the photo pit so it does fuck all for the rest of the palladiums attendees. |

I hate the goddamn palladium, I think I'm going to start making the drive to NY or CT on good tours cause it's not fucking worth it to go to that shithole anymore. When they played Spheres of Madness my jaw was on the floor...it was soooooo fast. Soilent Green, band #2 of the evening I've been waiting years upon years to see and also sounded terrible. The thing rev said about the pointing made me laugh. FUCK NILE. FUCK FUCK FUCK those assholes for cutting off Hypocrisy. Who also had shitty sound but I could make it out enough to enjoy it. A lot! I was having an awesome time and they blue balled everyone by them off. That's bullshit. Nile is tired and boring, I've seen them 500 times in the last few years and the suck ass. I also got in a fight with some douchebag guy wearing a Nile shirt who was getting all puffy-chested at our Nile bashing, so I turned around and asked him what the fuck he was looking at and the little pussy backed off. It was funny. I'm just a girl you sissy! haha All in all it was a horrible night. youre a slut |

____________________________________ [Feb 6,2006 10:57pm - anonymous ""] About the sound, you've got to figure that most of these sound guys are used to working in much smaller venues. Then they get to the Palladium and it's a lot different than what they're used to. And the worst sound is down in the pit, you're getting a lot of echo coming down off of the empty balcony. Like someone said, the best sound is right behind the soundboard. |
