| _______________________________________ [Jun 22,2005 12:47am - the_reverend ""] hegelian dialectic: this is a post P4AP band. it was sort of like old school-ish hardcore with some more gutteral vocals It sounded good, but Alex looked a little bored (he's a better drummer than this style needs). birth_rites: my first time seeing them with their new (or any) bassplayer. also, jonnnyrites had a new keyboard as well. it sounded really weird at first, but after a minute I got used to the new synths. the songs that actually use the bassplayer make it sound more like the rise and less like the faint. the_taste_of_silver: their set started out normal enough. but by the end, it turned into a fullscale school of rock. this was a fairly long set for them which was cool. I guess this is the last ne show before their tour. a lot of people in the audience were singing along. |

Everyone in that band is good at what they do, but it's super super stripped down. Tim Simpson is a fucking crazy guitarist and i think he can do more than just D-beat styled riffs. They are fun, and punk/crust kids have a big buzz going on for them...I'm still a PFAP/SAtSF fan myself, though of COURSE I support anything ANY of those guys are in. My thinking is they'll progress from what they are doing now into something a little dynamic for them. |

I thought it was going to be like the body or backstabbers inc or something like that. but it was hardcore punk. the mosh broke out for them. it was funny to see some two stepping in that small place. |

Hegelian Dialectic I enjoyed, not as much as PFAP but I think when I see them with dual vocals I'll love that shit fully. Birth Rites was fucking amazing, I also picked up their new full length and its pretty good, I have to say I prefer the live experience though, it just makes me want to fuckin' dance my ass off! |

I was trying to say it then, but you were not listening quite right on the NPR/Public broadcasting thing. here's the deal, it's not just in mass. it's in all of the US. it's slashing the the CPB funds. that means that about 7% of the budget from NPR would be cut. for NHPR that would mean about $100K per year or 2 1/2 employees. I listen to NPR all the time. |
