What four(4) national metal bands should headline to make the ultimate metalfest?

Psycroptic, Spawn of Possession, Decrepit Birth, and Necrophagist. Plus Exhorder reunion.

This really depends what you are going for. We don't quite have enough information, so I can't make many suggestions...

What styles do you want to include?

Necrotic Disgorgment
Lust of Decay
Decrepit Birth
Devourment

Metal... Period. Fuck syles.

Disturbed, Slipknot and the like will not be excepted.

Okay, so pretty much anything beyond the nu-metal shit.

Yes.

Naturaly, I need headliners with a draw but I don't want to hear people bitching about the national acts not being metal enough. Also I want this to be something that'll get some serious metal community notoriety.

US/Canada:
Cannibal Corpse
Cryptopsy
Arsis
Morbid Angel
Nile
Nevermore
Iced Earth
Slayer
Megadeth
Dream Theater

If you are including Europe/England:
Blind Guardian
Necrophagist
Dragonforce
Dimmu Borgir (or some other big-name black metal band)
The Haunted
Kreator

Bands like that would probably pack whatever fest you want.

Lets try to stick with the U.S./Canada. If the band is already here on a tour then maybe I can get one from overseas.

I'm just trying to think of bands that are huge (or on the verge of being huge) that will pack the house, guaranteed, and will probably cost you through the teeth. But you will make money if these bands play. The bands I've listed are pretty much the most popular in existence.

I left out Maiden and Priest.

If you are looking to go smaller, there are thousands of choices.

The first one that came to my mind was November's Doom. That may give you an idea of the status level I have my eyes on.

JAG PANZER and/or NEVERMORE.... i say you get both.

Jag Panzer is going to draw like four people. Honestly. November's Doom is attainable, but how many people would they draw?

I apologize, when you said 'ultimate' I was thinking more along the lines of something like Mass Metal/Hardcore fest, Wacken Open Air, etc. I misunderstood.

You're looking at something much more cozy though (and frankly, cooler).

I'm looking to set up a two day fest with strickly local metal bands hand picked. Each day will have two national headliners with 8-10 locals. And I want headliners that will cause people from all over New England to come. I don't want some Locobazooka bullshit. I'm not in this for the money. Sp log as I break even on this in the end I'll be happy. America just doesn't have enough metal fest and especially up this way.

TERROR
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER
BEHEMOTH
THE CHARIOT
THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD

i believe the gentleman said 'fuck styles,' so i believe he's looking for a diverse mix of metal/hardcore.

cus if you are, then one of those bands might be something to consider (a smaller band like TTEOTD would work, the others are fairly bigtimers).

i know nearly EVERYONE on this board is going to want a strictly 'metal metal' show though.

You should get bands like CRUCIFIER, GRAND BELIAL'S KEY, IBEX MOON, SUMMON, SADISTIC INTENT, DEMONCY, THE CHASM, etc.

Bands that don't tour the country in every city all the time.

I would like to point out that I wouldn't go to New Hampshire for a show even if Isis was playing Oceanic in it's entirity. Okay, that's a lie. But if you can get Isis to do that, I'll be there. :-)

I think Panzer would have enough following around here, espicially if its going to be at a local level size wise venue.

Other bands that are 'big' but not 'to big' to consider would be:

Nevermore as I already said
Amon Amarth
Old Mans Child as you said
Necrophagist
Vital Remains even though it seems like they were around a ton this year
Cellador... not as a headliner but a close to headliner like spot
Dark Tranquility

when you thinking of doing this anyway?

dude, jag panzer doesn't draw crap. i was watching them at milwaukee metalfest 2002 with like 40 other people.

and those bands for the most part are pretty big bucks. cellador, wtf?

Your best bets would be:
Dysrhythmia
Pig Destroyer
PsyOpus
Sulaco

I'd stick to east coast or else you're going to run into HUGE financial problems. Especially if it's in NH.

kids eat that power metal stuff up now that dragonforce went and got popular over night, Cellador and JP have built their cult following up. Power metal stuff was dead back in 2002 over here with the exception of maybe Iced Earth starting to get bigger... But anyway, Despite my personal bias, I am saying them because I'm assuming we're talking about a place that has like a less than 400 capacity (which I know they can't draw) but their inclusion as a secondary headliner would open up the appeal to some kids who wouldnt normally go, and with power metal on an upswing right now it would be cool to include one power metal headliner. All the known power metal bands are either to costly, to costly by being overseas, to big or have no US drawing power.

if bands like dr. chuds x-ward can headline fests of this size, JP totally could

or just get Nevermore. haha

Do not make venue capacity an issue. I may just look into somethinig like the Tweeter Center if need be.

well if thats the case then throw out most of my list haha.

go bigger and get Iced Earth.... or Jerry Lee Lewis.

If you did a show at the Tweeter Center. I wouldn't go. That automatically loses the greatness of any show.

What festivals do i remember and will always remember?
All those DIY fests with a bunch of dirty punk kids showing up having a goodtime.

Not some lame ass palladium fest.

Funny they happen every saturday considering I haven't seen one since Literacy Fest. And the only time before that was Friendly Fest in CT.

and also, if those huge festivals only happen a few times a year. They still suck ass and are filled with tons of bullshit. Metalfest is full of advertising, Hellfest the same thing.

And by "Advertising" I assume you mean the endorsement shit. Not here. This will not be sponsored by shitty rip-bands-off website, some disgusting booze or Snapple. As I said before, I'm not in this for the money. So long as I break even I'm happy.
