I actually went and cataloged all the annual metal festivals in this country. There's no more than 20. Half of which are in the mid-west.

That's fucked up. I'm working my Myspace profile in another window and an ad for Dragonforce is staring me right in the face.

Until now I never heard of them. I'm listening to them now. HOLY FUCK! Fast enough?

Porphyria should headline.

End of story.

If you get Old Man's Child that would be pretty impressive.

The bands I already listed would bring in tons of New Englanders, that was my basis for selecting.

Dragonforce is already doing Ozzfest, you might not be able to get them, but they would be huge for your fest.

dragonforce would cost $6K-$10K.
I forget the exact price.

I WOULD SELL MY FUCKING SOUL TO SEE THEM LIVE!

It might be more conservative to have something like:

NILE and ARSIS on one night.

NOVEMBERS DOOM and OLD MAN'S CHILD another night.

Then stack the rest of the lineup with the local big draws or the hand-selected bands that you believe in.

If you get Old Mans Child you will get a draw they are fucking awesome. Much better then Dimmu I believe.

nile is pricey too. old man's child has no other members other than galder and a drummer.

Hehehe, exactly why I told him it would be impressive if he could get them.

Hell, managing to get ANY Norwegian band would be impressive, since they almost always cancel.

AS I LAY DYING
IN FLAMES
TRIVIUM
TERROR
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER
BEHEMOTH
THE CHARIOT
THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD

100% honesty: all would draw very well, but not a lot of people here like them (save for Behemoth). But in general, the mallcore masses would attend, so your headcount would be huge.

I agree 100% that they are false metal (except Behemoth), but I'm trying to be honest with the guy. He's trying to get a good draw at a fest.

I would be pumped to see a good fest come this way also as far as local bands I am quite sure BMR would be in.

How bout these guys....

well, Novembers Doom is very easy to get intouch with (seeing since they're friends with Shroud), and will probably ask for us to play as well if you get them. If you're looking into other Doom bands, look into Swallow the Sun, Mourning Beloveth, Confessor, even getting prices for My Dying Bride may be a good idea (because people would come from all over to see MDB)

as far as other North American bands to look into:
Nevermore
Cryptopsy
Nile
Morbid Angel
Cannibal Corpse
Iced Earth
Deicide
Absu (may not draw that much, but they're sick)
Vehemence
Vital Remains (preferably WITHOUT Glen Benton)
Neuraxis
Augury (not many people know of them, but they're brutal as fuck)
Cattle Decapitation (impressed the shit outta me when I saw 'em)
Embalmer
Immolation
Suffocation
Capharnaum (but you'll need wheelchair access)

'local' acts to consider:
Porphyria
Seed
Coffin Birth
Hatchet
Extinction Agenda
Valasyrka
Shroud of Bereavement (yes, I'm suggesting myself, I'm such a whore)
A Terrible Night for a Curse
Hand Choke Neck
Life at Zero
Goreality
Burning Oath

a HEMDALE reunion. that would make me drive to New Hampshire.

other than that....

Misery Index
Embalmer
Suffocation
Dying Fetus
Goatwhore
Ion Dissonance
Neuraxis
Rotten Sound
Eyehategod
Crowbar

... those are all bands i'd pay to see.

How about considering Of The Betrayed for local acts. Also not a headliner but I would love to see a Deadwater Drowning reunion.

try getting some Polish bands: Lost Soul, Hate, Trauma, Decapitated, Devilyn, Vader

or some of the old school Swedish bands that are still touring like Grave, Dismember or Entombed or other swedish bands like Amon Amarth and Hypocrisy

ok dudes, this guy needs to tell us what venue this is going into.
how much he's investing into this.
an aproximate date when this was going to happen.
times on date or dates.

and a little more detail all around so we can more accurately gage.

AILD: they are on SOTU so are tied up. they also are $$$$/$$$$$ now. all of the bands for "headliners" that you all have listed cost a minimum of $2000 and that's the cheapest ones on the list. there are a couple of them that cost $10K+ when they are on tour. one off headliners would be probably $15K (Iced earth, I'm looking your way).

I like all these bands, so I'm just being honest here and guessing the costs and draw.
AS I LAY DYING >> christian metalcore draw over 4,000 people. cost probably close to $10K
IN FLAMES >> nu-metal mixed with melodic death metal. cost $5K-ish if they are in the country. draw 1,000-2,000 people
TRIVIUM >> thrashy metal with hardcore elements some guitar masturbation. cost around $5K. draw 500-1000 if marketed right.
TERROR >> around $500 if they are on this cost. draw about 100 people.
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER > melodic death metal. cost $2K. draw 500-1000 people
BEHEMOTH > black metal, some death influences, some atmospheric interludes. costs $2K and plane tickets. draw 100-200 people
THE CHARIOT > norma jean. costs under $1K. draw 50-200 people.
THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD costs $500-ish. draw 50-200 people.

Exactly, that's why I was saying in my first post that we didn't have enough information.

Are you serious about AILD drawing 4,000 people? Man does that make me sad.

Iced Earth is not worth $15K. Iced Earth is not worth $15.00. I'm sure they'd draw, but $15K worth of people? Maybe in Greece.

yeah, seriously...if you were to get one of these trendy metalcore bands, yes you would hear some shit from purists. But you would also give yourself some financial security.

I'm just glad that people have heard and like Augury. they blew me away when I heard them the first time.

I'd like to see DISILLUSION (thx for crx on my typo) here in the states, their 'Back to the Times of Splendor' CD was really good (at least in my opinion)

That's Disillusion, not Dissolution. Two different bands.

Great CD though.

I'd be hard pressed to go see Iced Earth unless they got Matt Barlow back.

Ripper's a talented singer, but he's so not fitting to the IE sound.

I'm still dissapointed with that "When the Eagle Jumps on the 9/11 Bandwagon" song (thanks for the quote kyle)

I think Ripper has always sucked. He sucked in Winters Bane (they are better with the new singer), sucked in Priest (obviously), sucks in Iced Earth (he actually made them worse), and he sucks in his new band Beyond Fear.

The guy just tries too fucking hard. He has a great voice but he's too overbearing with it and puts too much inflection.

Both Augury and Dissilusion would be awesome! Augury is from Canada so it wouldn't be too hard to get them in (I actually have them on the list for the fest thing I'm doing next year in Vermont). Dissilusion is going to cost some cash to fly them in. Textures would be cool if they "accidentaly" left their vocalist at home. Best of luck with this, though! Sounds like it could be a good time.

at taste of chaos, there were 7-8K people there and atleast 1/2 the audience was there to see AILD. they are good dudes so I have no problem with them. some of the clean singing in there songs are getting annoying, but besides that they are still the same band.

For local bands I would say...
The Finite
The Final Battle
Proteus
Dysentery
The Nicaea Room
In Dire Need
Porphyria

There's more I just can't think.

I can't stand AILD, but I will admit the fact they can draw about 4,000 people is pretty sick and way beyond what I would have guessed.

another pipedream would be to get Codeon from Finland over here (maybe Demilich again, before they call it quits)
