I think the Pats should hold out for picks #20 (1st round) and #65 (3rd round) from Detroit......or #34 (2nd round) and #67 (3rd round) from the Chiefs

I don't think there will be any other serious takers....maybe Tampa

that seriously a worse comment then mine on Portis.

He's been injured a lot. He barely played last season if my memory serves me right.

yeah the Vikes def jumped the ship and didn't want to wait around and see what happens with Cassel which is too bad that would have been a great fit.

not that I care but if he goes to KC or Detroit Cassel will get eaten alive.

if Garcia can make shit happend in TB I'm sure Cassel could too.

either way cap space and more good draft picks, do that shit.

If the Pats could somehow talk Detroit into giving them #20 and #33 (1st pick of the 2nd round), you take that yesterday IMO

I think the best package Tampa would do is a 2nd and 3rd rounder (picks 50 and 81), but I think the Pats could get more.

[Feb 27,2009 12:10pm - W3 @ work  ""]
that might be the problem, they want more and aren't getting it.

TB just dumped a lot of older players so they might not want to give up too much for Cassel but I guess we shall see.

wooooooooooooo almost time for Guiness.

5 but yea, Brooks and Dunn (LOL!) are both way over the hill as is Galloway and June is not that good....Hilliard can still do some things, but he's not a huge loss

WHAT THE FUCK??? WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU TRADE ONE OF THE BEST LINEBACKERS YOU'VE EVER FUCKING HAD?
 _________________________________
[Feb 27,2009 2:40pm - RustyPS ""]
I'm holding out judgment for 2 things:

1) What they get from the Chiefs in return?

2) Who they get to replace him?....which might not happen until the draft
 __________________________________________
[Feb 27,2009 2:43pm - MillenialKingdom ""]
He's one of the only linebackers I've seen to have the most TD's as a linebacker in a Superbowl. Yea, let's trade him away. Good job, Pats.
 _________________________________
[Feb 27,2009 2:48pm - RustyPS ""]
lol....so you're pissed they traded a LB that they happened to use in goal line situations?

that's a little silly IMO
 ________________________________
[Feb 27,2009 2:48pm - xmikex ""]
Well let's think about this. He's getting older, and I think it's a contract year for him. Like Rusty said I'm reserving judgment until I hear what kind of compensation they're getting for him. I'm hoping for at least a 3rd rounder plus a late round selection. If I hear the words "Larry Johnson" involved I'm going to be pissed.

Per PFT:

"So if they can come to an agreement on Vrabel, when will Matt Cassel make his way to Missouri?"

How sick would it be if we walked away with 2 out of KC's top draft picks. Thanks Pioli!

Well, I just used that as an example. My point is that he's a very versatile player and we need him.

What if instead of LJ, Tony Gon Gon is part of the package?

The Big Show is speculating that Vrabel might be a chip to sweeten the pot in a possible deal for Cassel to get the 3rd pick overal....this is intriguing
 ________________________________
[Feb 27,2009 3:04pm - xmikex ""]
I'd be less than upset if we ended up with Tony G. But Gonzo, Watson, Chris Baker, David Thomas.... that's a lot of tight ends.
 _________________________________
[Feb 27,2009 3:11pm - RustyPS ""]
True...but Watson has been a pretty big disappointment, Baker won't start either way, and as you said earlier, Thomas is in their doghouse.

[Feb 27,2009 3:31pm - RustyPS ""]
John "Booger" Clayton is reporting an undisclosed draft pick for Vrabel.......but WEEI is working the phones to find out more, and they're saying no one can confirm or deny that this is part of a possible Cassel deal

Hopefully they trade Cassell too. Then we could possibly get Aaron Curry with the Chiefs 1st round pick to take Vrabel's spot.

Fuck all major sports with no salary cap. It's like racing cars with no classes, who ever has the most money is going to have the best shot. Fuck that right in the ass. Get on with the NHL's 38 million a year per team and I will care.

and Gaffney went to Denver.

That is an atrocious trade.
But so was Welker at the time, if you think about it.

Vrabel is great, but old, and Cassel will do well anywhere.

Welker wasn't an awful trade at the time at all...I was very excited for that trade when it happened.

Why? His numbers in Miami were not great at all.

If you watched Miami at all when he was there, it was obvious he was the diamond in the rough there....I knew the Pats could easily exploit his talents, even though Miami didn't know how to use him
