I don't like most modern JRPGs but it seems the American ones are more focused on depth and action. I need to play Dragonage more to fully appreciate it. Oblivion still hasn't failed me though. Love the world in that game;better than morrowind and daggerfall. |

But really, somewhere along the line they started losing their integrity. Listen, I like (good) Japanese animation and movies, and I kno you're an anime buff... Way more than me. But JRPGs now are way too cartoony and have so much cheese. Again, not all of them do, but it seems that squareenix (anyone who doesn't know the signifigance of this company and claims to be an rpg fan should be shot on the spot) has been on a decline since they merged. Just about every squarespft game was solid. Most Enix games were solid too.. but it seems quality is diminishing as each year passes. |

I actually read most of the codices as I acquired them so the history of the world with its cultures and religions is really visceral. In particular the naming of everything is very well done. Lots of almost-realworld names and using of the good ol' Old English/Germanic technique of sticking two words together. |
