Having a really hard time getting into this. Bought a few months ago when the local Sony store went out of business, played it for a couple of hours and just couldn't get into it. Everyone praises this game, but I just don't get it. I'll try it again someday.

I agree with mages being overpowered. I took Morrigan out of my party because it was just too easy, especially in dungeons where you could just blast a room with tempest before even opening the door.

You can bang everyone. Can be a little inconvenient with the elf guy, so I suggest just don't talk to your party. Ever. I lost my indian guy in the beginning because I wondered what the "we don't want you here, leave" dialogue option would do. Thank god, or I might have ended up fucking him too!

It's just sad, when a game tells you to be friends with your party so they like you, then rewards you with gay sex when you do what you've been told. This is entrapment, dammit.

You could bang people in Fable2 as well. Is this supposed to be innovative? Where's Leisure Suit Larry when you need him?

I miss Sierra :(

I believe Activision. Sierra was tossed around from company to company in the 2000s. The last (good) title I have from them is Homeworld2. Awesome games, those homeworlds.
Sierra was untouchable in the 90s. Every game was gold.

[Jul 27,2010 11:23am - reimroc ""]
yea homeworld was awesome. i remember playing the first one and loving it.

Play the 2nd. The first Homeworld was pretty innovative. Hard to believe that shit came out 11 years ago.

RPGs now are so polished. I can't decide if that's a good or bad thing. I don't like most modern JRPGs but it seems the American ones are more focused on depth and action. I need to play Dragonage more to fully appreciate it.
Oblivion still hasn't failed me though. Love the world in that game;better than morrowind and daggerfall.

Dragon Age is a good RPG. There is a lot you can do with each of the 3 classes as far as specializations and specific builds go. Also I agree that most modern JRPGs blow. That genre died with FFX. As you would say "Only SNES-PSX JRPGs are real".

haha fixd.
But really, somewhere along the line they started losing their integrity. Listen, I like (good) Japanese animation and movies, and I kno you're an anime buff... Way more than me. But JRPGs now are way too cartoony and have so much cheese. Again, not all of them do, but it seems that squareenix (anyone who doesn't know the signifigance of this company and claims to be an rpg fan should be shot on the spot) has been on a decline since they merged. Just about every squarespft game was solid. Most Enix games were solid too.. but it seems quality is diminishing as each year passes.

You know, I'm inclined to agree with that. Back in the day both Square and Enix respectively had some great fucking games. Once they merged as the years passed the quality has seemed to diminished.

Actually, I just barely started a D&D group. It's unlike anything I've done before, because 3/4 of the players are girls. Not ugly ones, either. Weird.

Its relatively open for such a plot-oriented RPG, I think if it was wicked open-world I wouldn't now what to do.

I think that one of the best parts of the game is how alive the world feels. I actually read most of the codices as I acquired them so the history of the world with its cultures and religions is really visceral.

In particular the naming of everything is very well done. Lots of almost-realworld names and using of the good ol' Old English/Germanic technique of sticking two words together.
